A rare treat

Flannel Flower
Flannel Flower in the Blue Mountains.

A group of us went on an invigorating bushwalk today, in Glenbrook, in the lower Blue Mountains. We did 2 mini walks, then one big moderately difficult one down to Erskine Creek. It was a full-on bush bash through unlittered almost pristine bush. It was so quiet, but for the sound of a mini waterfall and water charging through a fairly narrow gap between two rocks, and some consistent bell birds. We made it right to the bottom and sat on a beautiful cold shaded rock and had lunch then mentally psyched ourselves up for the return journey... completely uphill since we had made it all the way down! We were quite pleased with ourselves when we got back to the carpark to read a sign that said the walk was for seasoned hikers!

I had to lie on my stomach and lean over the edge of the rock to take this shot, and was surprised afterwards that my sunnies hadn't fallen in in the process!
