Star of Wonder, star of night...

Got home last night after an awesome weekend which started on Friday night up in the gorgeous Hunter Valley. I stayed at the Pokolbin Hill Chateau Resort and had a 1 bedroom apartment all to myself! That was awesome, (it had a spa bath too!) but that wasn't the best bit! The weather the whole weekend was great (until I drove home, which took 3 hours!!!) but that wasn't the best bit either...
After a so-so dinner at Harrigan's, I went to see Anthony Warlow Under the Stars at the Wyndham Estate on Saturday night with friend Dan...

This was the gorgeous sky that greeted us after dinner...

The sunset on our way to the concert... we couldn't help but stop for a snap!...or a few!

We finally arrived... after almost getting lost...(we crashed a party to clarify directions cos I left the map behind at the resort, and Dan didn't think we'd need to pick it up on the way!) and when we did, it was almost completely dark, and the stars started to appear... We were technically a few minutes late, but so was Anthony!

Anthony performed an eclectic collection ranging from Big Band to Musicals to Opera, with Tommy Tycho conducting and a supporting act by Andy Firth (clarinet, trombone and sax) who was absolutely cool...

This is how far back we actually were...right up the back!

After the concert, and a caffeine fix for Dan, we went stargazing with my camera, using Dan's car roof and roof rack as a tripod, cos silly me didn't think to pack mine! It was really awesome, except for all the cars that interrupted my 90 second exposures!! But hey, it's all part of the adventure! Mind you, we tried two different places before we found the best spot!

Seeing the Southern Cross with the Milky Way as a backdrop and watching Orion's Belt disappear over the horizon at 1am were the definite highlights!

Sunday morning I was woken up at 7am by hot air balloons! (after not going to sleep until after 2am!) That has now made me want to go up in one, if only for the awesome views at sunrise!
