Honey, I'm home!
Landed at 0638hrs, after a VERY long flight home starting with sitting in the plane in a gate hold at Dulles Airport in a 1.5 hour delay (some stupid plane was hovering around the DC area that wasn't supposed to be there, so they grounded all the planes until they scrambled some F16s to intercept it, and evacuated the White House). Because of the delay, the question then was whether all the Aussie bound people were going to make their connecting flight from San Fran to Sydney. (The Kiwis missed their connection)We were lucky. There was then a delay to take off from San Francisco cos of the 6am curfew at Sydney Airport. If my flight had taken off on time we would've had to be circling Sydney offshore for a while before we were allowed to land at 6.
United Airlines, for future reference sucks! On the domestic flight (6hr)from Dulles to San Fran, they made you pay $5 USD for a "snack pack" of rubbish! And the airline isn't even a budget airline like Virgin Blue or Easy Jet!!! As if you haven't already paid enough for your airfare, they make you pay for food on the flight when any other airline would've given you a proper evening meal!!!! Grrrrrr!
On a lighter note, I'm appreciating (it won't lst long, I'm sure) the Sydney winter temperatures after the humid 40°C or so heat in DC.
On a different note again, I must curse modern technology! Because of it, my upcoming weekend is already full to the max and it's because of the wonder of e-mail! No rest for the jetlagged weary.
As I type, I am uploading the thousands of happy snaps I have on CD to my computer so those phantom photos will appear right here soon! Stay tuned now!
